Modern Arrangements of 'Great Russ Columbo Standards' is how the liner notes describe this 1958 Columbia 12 inch vinyl LP featuring vocalist Jerry Vale with Glenn Osser and his Orchestra. (CS 8016).
In Australia and New Zealand a mono edition of the album was issued on the Coronet label (KLP 715).
Ruggiero Eugenio di Rodolfo Colombo (January 14, 1908 – September 2, 1934), known as Russ Columbo, was an American baritone, songwriter, violinist and actor.
He is famous for romantic ballads many of which he wrote himself.
Jerry Vale (born Gennaro Louis Vitaliano, July 8, 1930 – May 18, 2014) was an American singer and actor.
During the 1950s and 1960s, he reached the top of the pop charts with his interpretations of romantic ballads and he was certainly the right choice to present an album of Russ Columbo favourites.
