Photos of the textbook and videos of students singing the song have gone viral on social media, raising serious questions over the textbook review and proofreading process. The controversy comes amid reports that as many as 1,678 errors have been found in newly introduced textbooks for Classes 1 to 8 for the 2026-27 academic session. Other reported mistakes include describing scientist Isaac Newton as the "greatest pilot" and mislabelling images of Karnataka Assembly and Hampi. Following public outrage, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered a probe, suspended four officials, and directed authorities to reprint the textbooks.
