So here we are at episode 38 and it’s finally time to register my 1977 XC Ford Falcon 351 project. The registration process went without a hitch and I was free to go home and take my toy for its first drive….or so I thought.
It was three days later and I had a chance to pull the ford out of the garage and take it for a sneaky blatt, but as it turned out the battery was flat and I had to jump start the car to get it to move. My problems were compounded when I fudged my gear selection and got the car jammed in park in the driveway.
After much faffing about I attached a tow strap to the triton to take the weight off the park brake pin. Then I could back the car up the drive and out onto the road for the first time EVER!
There were some takeaways from the first drive, the car needs a tune, the indicators don’t self correct, the heater core leaks and the shifter is hard to start the car with. But it sounded mint and behaved in a predictable manner. As I mentioned in an earlier video there will still be much to do as all the reliability quirks are worked out!
