Located along the Ganges River in the Uttar Pradesh, is the busy city of Varanasi. Varanasi (previously/locally called Banaris) is a holy city in many Hindu or Buddhist pilgrimages. It is believed that if you die in Varanasi you achieve Moksha, or liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Many people at the end of their life will take Sannyasa and meditate along the river.
The city is filled with many ghats and temples, juxtaposed with thousands of small shops and one of the largest universities in Asia.
