In this video we break down Program Channel Menu 7: TX DCS on the Baofeng UV-5R Mini and explain exactly how digital squelch codes work. If you've ever programmed a repeater and wondered why it won’t respond when you transmit, the problem is often your transmit tone or code. TX DCS controls the digital code your radio sends when you press the push-to-talk button, and if it doesn’t match what the repeater expects, it simply won’t open.
We walk through the full menu, explain the difference between Normal and Inverted codes, and show how to select the correct option from D023N all the way through D754I. Once you understand TX DCS, programming repeaters becomes much easier and far less frustrating.
A special thank you to Uncle David @BrilliantHam for supporting this project and helping make this radio programming series possible. Your encouragement means a lot.
