This week, The Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, accompanied by Regimental Mascot Cpl Cruachan IV, have been proving The Queen’s Guard at Buckingham Palace.
Private Higgins, Pony Major 2IC, takes us behind-the-scenes to see how Cruachan gets prepared for Changing the Guard.
During ceremonial occasions, Cruachan wears an in-hand bridle with a snaffle bit. His saddlecloth is tartan (Government Tartan 1A) and gold, with an embroidered badge of The Royal Regiment of Scotland. Over his saddlecloth he wears a black leather roller and crupper.
The music is provided by The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, who have accompanied the Regiment to London.
