The Vedas, including the Rigveda, Yajurveda, and Atharvaveda, detail the water cycle and related activities, including hydro-structures, hydraulic machinery, water quality, and nature-based solutions for water management. The Harappan Civilization developed the first wastewater disposal system, while the Mauryan Dynasty developed dams and spillways, water pricing systems, and knowledge about hydrological processes. The Varijantra was the first AC used in Ancient India, and the Mauryan Empire developed water pricing systems and rainfall measurements. Rainwater harvesting systems, such as the Kund, were designed for drinking purposes. Varaha Mira developed a simple water treatment mechanism as early as 550 AD, using plant materials, solar heating, aeration, and quenching.
All this has shown for 7000 years Indians have controlled water just like the modern civilizations.
