Bedford Hills Fire Department Rescue 10 and Utility 6, Somers Fire Department Ambulance 80B3, Mini Attack 14, and Engine 180, Northern Westchester Paramedics 45-Medic-2, Croton Falls Fire Department Car 2073 and Engine 148, and Westchester County Department of Emergency Services Battalion 13 responding to a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Route 100 in the Town of Somers, New York. A complete rundown of the units that responded is listed below.
At the time of dispatch, the Somers Fire Department, with fire and EMS units, along with mutual aid assets from the Bedford Hills Fire Department and the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services, as well as 45-Medic-2 from the Northern Westchester Paramedics were all operating at a motor vehicle accident with a car into a building, where a person had been previously trapped in the vehicle. (Check out a video of that response: • Somers FD Car Into Building With Entrapmen... ) As a result of that incident, Car 2073 and Engine 148 from the Croton Falls Fire Department were standing by in their own quarters to cover Somers Fire Department in the event of any additional calls. So, when this additional motor vehicle accident was received, Somers Fire Department Fire and EMS, Car 2073 and Engine 148 from the Croton Falls Fire Department, and 45-Medic-3 from the Northern Westchester Paramedics were all dispatched simultaneously. At around the same time, units were mostly wrapping up from the first accident. 45-Medic-2 secured an RMA and placed all EMS units back in service from that call. Command also released Bedford Hills units and instructed them to respond to the second accident as well. Car 8011 was the first unit to arrive on scene of the second accident and reported there were three patients and requested a second ambulance. Ambulance 80B3 responded from the first accident scene. 45-Medic-2 also began responding as a second medic. Ambulance 80B1 transported one patient and Ambulance 80B3 transported two patients. Both units transported BLS to Westchester Medical Center. 45-Medic-2 and 45-Medic-3 both went back into service. Car 2441 released all mutual aid companies, while Somers Fire units remained on scene until the roadway was cleared.
