FASTag New Rules Effective From Today – Big Change for Highway Users!
Starting 15 November, the Government of India has implemented a major update in the FASTag toll collection system.
Under the revised structure from the Highway Fees (2008) rules, drivers will now face different charges depending on whether they pay through cash or digital methods if the FASTag fails.
What’s new?


If FASTag fails and you pay cash, you will now be charged 200% of the toll.


If FASTag fails and you pay via UPI/digital, you will be charged only 1.25x.


Normal FASTag scan = no extra charges.


Example:
✔ Regular Toll: ₹100
✔ FASTag working: ₹100
✔ FASTag fail + Cash: ₹200
✔ FASTag fail + UPI: ₹125
This rule aims to promote digital payments, reduce congestion, and strengthen transparency.
