In 1946, sixteen months after his high school sweetheart Arline died of tuberculosis, physicist Richard Feynman sat down and wrote her a letter.
He was a man of science, a man who would go on to win a Nobel Prize. But in this letter, there is no physics. There is only the raw, illogical, beautiful pain of a love that didn't end with death.
He sealed the envelope. It remained unopened until after his own death in 1988.
You are dead, but you are better than anyone alive.
P.S. The final line of this letter breaks me every time.
