Travelling with an ailing hip or knee is never easy, and almost can never be done alone. In our clinic, we often get visits from patients from different parts of India, and sometimes even the world; and even though they all take ample precautions, they do not always know exactly what they need to do. This video lists out all the things you MUST NOT miss when you are travelling for your surgery.
1 - Your Medical Documents - Your MRIs, Your X-rays, Your Doctor's Prescription and any and all documents related to your condition and its history.
2 - Your Insurance Documents + Your Identification (PAN, AADHAR, IDENTITY PROOF)
3 - Accommodation Near The Hospital - Find A Suitable Hotel Near Your Surgeon's Hospital. Plan Your Visit Thoroughly Beforehand. You don't want to experience the hassle of looking for a hotel after arriving to a new place. You also don't want to commute to your doctor's place every single day, because your surgeon will need to do his own investigation for a day or two before the surgery.
4 Carry Cash/Card - You never know when you might need it.
5 Carry What Helps You Stay Comfortable - Blankets, Pillows, and Your Own Clean Clothes. You should also carry your own Extension Cord - so that you can have ample plug points to work or relax, whichever you need.
6 (Specially For Women) - Wet Wipes, Sanitary Pads, Skincare Lotion. While all of these are available in the hospital pharmacy, carrying them will save you the hassle of going back and forth to the infirmary.
Also For Women (And Some Men) - NEVER CARRY JEWELLERY - It has no place in a hospital.
7 (For International Patients) - Passport, Visa, Travel Insurance, and all the relevant documents for your ailment and/or condition.
We hope you found this video helpful. Please let us know if we have missed anything. Also, let us know if you have any doubts regarding the above. Never forget: You can never be over-prepared for something as crucial as surgery.
