Positioned as a compact plug-in hybrid sedan, the 2026 BYD Seal 05 DM-i is a refreshed and rebadged iteration of the Destroyer 05, now incorporating BYD's advanced fifth-generation DM technology. This front-wheel-drive model prioritizes exceptional efficiency, leveraging a 1.5L Atkinson cycle engine (74 kW) paired with a 120 kW front electric motor. Managed by an E-CVT transmission, this powertrain enables a brisk 7.6 to 7.9-second sprint from 0–100 km/h while targeting a remarkable combined range of up to 2,000 km.

At the heart of its efficiency is the BYD Blade Battery, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit with a 15.87 kWh capacity. It provides up to 128 km of electric-only driving under the CLTC cycle and supports DC fast charging, achieving a 30–80% charge in approximately 25–30 minutes. With official fuel consumption figures as low as 2.9L per 100 km, the sedan seamlessly blends extended electric mobility with the flexibility of a hybrid for long-distance travel.

The Seal 05 DM-i measures 4,780 mm in length with a 2,718 mm wheelbase, offering a spacious 508-liter trunk. Its cabin is centered on a signature rotating touchscreen, either 12.8 or 15.6 inches, powered by the DiLink system, alongside an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. Notable features include an electronic column shifter, wireless charging, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability. Safety is bolstered by six airbags and the comprehensive DiPilot 100 ADAS suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, and automated parking functions.
