Dauntless Patch 1.14.1 Darkened Skies
From Day 1, I thought that I could get a run in the 50-55s range using 3 part breaks. Since this run only had 2 part breaks, this kill was faster than I expected. I thought the first break was the right flame sac, but it turns out that it remained unbroken in the run. If the Grim Onslaught hit differently, then perhaps this run would have been 49s.
It is difficult to script a run around Charrogg AI because drop timings will not be consistent after shield stacking in spawn.
My notes on Firebrand Charrogg Trial:
-It uses the molten ball if you are standing in front of it.
-It uses the fist slam if you are standing near it and to the side of the head. This move can be dodged using positioning by standing at the armpit or very close to the head. Dodging mid attack can be effective since axe swings will push you into the safe head hitbox.
-It will forelimb scoop backwards if you are standing near it and to the side. To dodge this move, you should I-frame both the hand and the head hitbox. Reposition back to the head to avoid triggering this move.
-During the enrage animation, you should charge your axe. You can also have enough time to Urska legendary ability. Make sure to stand near and slightly off center to Charrogg to trigger the fist slam after the enrage, otherwise it will charge forward.
-It will charge forward or use the tail move if you are spaced away from it. Make sure not to trigger either of these attacks in a speedrun.
-It will back away and throw fire with its tail in the latter half of the fight. Make sure to manage your Revenant, Grim Onslaught, Stamina, and Positioning, since this is an opportunity for significant damage loss. You can prevent Charrogg from triggering this move by... (if only I could experiment with controlled launch timing).
-Its AI can have issues if it has trouble executing a move. There is a long cooldown on the molten ball and although it can use the fist slam twice in a row, it tries not to abuse the move. If you chase it to prevent its rotation, it will not be able to attack. I commonly see this with molten ball start, but... (if only I could experiment with controlled launch timing to see if it is specifically related to the backwards scoop and double charge moves).
-Make sure to Revenant through its tail for 5 Tendrils. The head is not necessary in this case.
-The flame sac hitboxes seem to extend outwards to the sides of the jaw. They will emit smoke when broken. This is useful because between Skarn Lantern, Frostwulf Unique Effect, and invisible hitboxes, it can be difficult to tell whether you've broken the head or a flame sac on the other side of the behemoth. For Axe swings, you can look for blue Stagger Damage to check if you hit the head or a flame sac.
