‘Great deal of power’: Australian government’s misinformation laws a ‘real concern’

Free speech is “fundamental” to who Australians are, but the way the Australian government’s misinformation laws are written, does give a “great deal of power” to the regulator, says Shadow Minister for Communications David Coleman.
“There’s real concerns with this legislation; if you have a look at it, it could be very broad in its application,” Mr Coleman told Sky News host Sharri Markson.
“Certainly, ordinary Australians will absolutely be caught by it.
“Governments should be very, very reluctant to step into this space.
“There’s very serious reason to be concerned here.”
