Went out yesterday to spot for red deer and nature didn’t disappoint. Red deer in abundance once again 😊
I wanted to catch some video with my daytime digital camera, so I went well before dusk and I used a combo of thermal and daytime optics.
Making a casual stop just to check my surroundings I chanced upon a group of red deer 300m away. However, had I not brought my hikmicro Gryphon, I would never have spotted the deer. Their red-brown coat camouflaged them well against the heather shrub.
I set up my small digicam and started filming. This way of “hunting” is still new to me and I’m still learning. Nevertheless, it’s very fun and satisfying.
While still not legal in Denmark to use thermals for hunting, this experience reinforces the thought that thermals are a vital piece of kit that’ll quickly let you spot a target.
A process that likely will buy you a little more time to set up for an effective and secure shot.
