The historic Shoshone Indians occupied territory in California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming, although most settled in the Snake river area in Idaho. Although historical documents from the Lewis & Clark expedition refer to the Shoshone as the "Snake Indians," the actual name "Shoshone" means "The Valley People." This work features an excerpt of the widely known and quoted Shoshone Love Song. See www.shoshoneindian.com.
