The Canadian Army changed from .303” British calibre to 7.62 X 51 mm NATO calibre in the mid-1950s. The Dominion of Canada Rifle Association, the D.C.R.A., also made this change.
Teams, clubs and individuals had No. 4 rifles converted to 7.62 NATO by Canadian Arsenals Limited at Long ranch, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Each one had a conversion number marked in three places. Each owner then had some options for customization.
The rifle featured in this video, serial number 74L1110, D.C.R.A. conversion number 625 rifle is very special because not only do we know whose rifle it was, but we also know that he was a President of the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association.
