Sailung is one of the great destinations near Kathmandu Valley that can be completed at a short time interval. 2 days is enough to complete the journey. However, I would like to recommend you to have 3 days that would give enough time to explore and immerse yourself into the beauty of Sailung.
ITENARY:
Day 1: Kathmandu, Chabahill, Jorpati, Sankhu, Kattikey, Nagarkot, Kuntabesi, Zero Kilo, Dolalghat, Sukute, Mude, Baghkhor, Dhunge, Kalapani [on private vehicle, 6-7 hours ride]
If you are opting for a public vehicle, you will get a bus from Sankhu buspark up to Baghkhor and need to hike from there. It's a roughly 7-8 hours ride.
Day 2: 1-2 hours walk to reach Sailung top from Kalapani. Explore Sailung. You can return back from Sailung after a few hours of exploration if you have a private vehicle. Otherwise, you can return back on the next day.
The condition of the road up to Bagkhor or Deurali is good enough. From Bagkhor to Kalapani, the road is mostly offroad. In monsoon, it can be pretty harsh or very hard to take 2 wheel vehicles.
