Distribution is a necessary evil. We have in California, it’s three tier. You got your manufacturer, your wholesaler, and retailer.
Branding is a huge part of distribution. Unfortunately, it takes more than an excellent brew to get people to buy it. Now you’re gonna hear from our experts on the topic of distribution. Then once you have distribution, it’s time to package our beer.
[Module 4.7 - Distribution]
We’re right on the cusp, beginning formal distribution. Currently we’re self distributing at this point. But the majority of our business is going through the testing right now. We’re doing a significant percentage here. We are production brewing, not a brew pub so the majority should be off-site. And with distribution, we will be flipping that percentage. It just extends our range, there’s no way we’d be able to have our range with our beer that we can with distribution.
[Distribution: Without distribution, an ale house or brewery’s reach is only as far as they can drive. Distribution can get your product in places that you will likely not be able to.]
With distribution, we’d be able to get our beer down to San Diego and stuff. And we just wouldn’t be able to do that with our current person distribution. Almost all of the location are located in the San Fernando Valley down to Glendale. And I think the forest outliers and chatsworth.
Distribution is a necessary evil. We have in California, it’s three tier. So you got your manufacturer, your wholesaler, and your retailer. So we can make our beer here, we can package it, we can jump in our truck and we can self-distribute in California. States are different. Then there’s the distributor. Harbor, Stone, Ace, those are our distributors down here and they’re awesome because they’re your logistics company as well as your brand rap. So we brew, we package and then we sell our beer to our distributor. And then we’re paid. Our beers now sold. They take our brand in their portfolio and they put the placements in the retail accounts. They get their mark up on it and then they get paid. It works good for us.
[Distribution: Small brewers have initiated self-distribution for the first few years to gain good product representation and placement, and then turn the distribution over to a beer wholesaler to further penetrate the marketplace.]
As far as how we find distribution, they come to us, we reach out to them and it’s just a matter of interviewing each distributor and finding the best fit for what your visions are and what their portfolio is and if it’s a match or not.
