Upgrading existing transportation infrastructure has additional and unique challenges. Project owners must manage the current transportation system’s daily operation, whilst the migration project delivers capability improvements.
Migration Planning requires the identification of the right interventions to the railway for new, retained, and modified assets that deliver journey time capability improvements, with the need to plan and execute the delivery of multiple overlapping complex interventions to the railway, all while providing assurance that the railway is safe at the start of every revenue service day.
SEMP has supported numerous infrastructure project owners in migration planning from requirements gathering to operational readiness. Such projects include the London Underground, Transpennine Route Upgrade, among others.
During this session, Derek Wynne, Executive Vice President of SEMP, will share the key challenges, learnings, and pitfalls of migration planning.
Derek is a seasoned expert in Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, and Systems Assurance with over three decades of experience in the Rail and Defence industries. He holds a BSc in Applied Physics and is a full member of both the Institute of Engineering and Technology and the International Council on Systems Engineering.
