What does mid- to long-term performance look like for the Salto Talaris total ankle? In this retrospective cohort from a tertiary foot & ankle center (2000–2023), we analyzed 518 primary Salto Talaris TAAs with a minimum 2-year follow-up (mean ≈ 7.3 years).
Key findings
Kaplan–Meier survivorship ~97% at mid/long-term follow-up
Low revision rate: 3.1% (16/518) for tibial, talar, or polyethylene components
Cohort profile: mean age ~66 years; mean BMI ~29
Secondary data captured: complications, prior surgeries, perioperative details, time to weight bearing, and PROMs (FAAM, PCS)
Takeaway: The Salto Talaris demonstrates excellent survivorship with a low revision rate in real-world, multi-surgeon use. Identifying risk factors and standardizing pathways can further optimize outcomes.
