The Cambie Corridor Planning Program is a multi-phase initiative by the City of Vancouver to transform the area surrounding Cambie Street from low density single family housing to a transit-oriented, mixed use series of communities.
Senior city planner (Vancouver South division) Jim Bailey spoke to the Journal of Commerce about the varied approaches the city is taking as it enters Phase III of the Cambie Corridor Planning Program.
Bailey emphasized that different neighbourhoods call for different solutions, and said there is still room for single-family dwelling while integrating transit, residential towers and legacy institutional and commercial buildings.
