Two first half goals from Ryan Garland proved enough for Pontyclun to take the three points at Ivor Park but the home side had to withstand a courageous fightback from a determined Port Talbot side after the interval.
Garland headed home the opener after four minutes following a cross from the right before doubling Pontyclun’s advantage half an hour later. Port Talbot hopes were rekindled within two minutes of the resumption as the returning Charlie Farrell beat goalkeeper Fleming from close range. However despite concerted pressure, the visitors were unable to find the equaliser with Pontyclun holding on for the victory.
The Blues return to Victoria Road on Saturday when they welcome Seven Sisters for a 2:30 kick off.
