Описание: What has the effect of cannabis been on rural development? How have environmental concerns affected its regulation? What are the effects of regulation on small farmers, farmworkers, and legacy farmers? What is the effect of cultivation bans on local populations? In answering all this, what lessons can we draw about equity, environmental justice, and the health of cannabis-producing communities? Drawing from a decade of ethnographic fieldwork and observations in Northern California, anthropologist Michael Polson, explores the state of cannabis policy today. He focuses on how the legacy of prohibition impacts current debates on regulation and the hidden ways that legalization can aggravate and institute unequal and inequitable social relationships.
