The Nifty Index lost around 1.7% in the past week. Indian markets posted small losses on relative basis on hopes of continued growth momentum.

IT services and oil & gas were the top losers in the week, while metals, banks and autos were the top gainers among major sectors.

August CPI inflation rose to 7%, while July IIP growth moderated sharply to 2.4%.

U.S. inflation data for August came at an unexpected 8.3%. Initial jobless claims came in better than expected, but import prices saw a smaller drop than estimates suggested.

FIIs were net buyers to the tune of Rs.1,916 crore till date in September so far.
FIIs flows are expected to remain volatile in the near term given the headwinds in terms of monetary tightening, rising inflation, geo-political concerns, etc.

PICK OF THE WEEK – Max Financial Services (MFSL). BUY TARGET - Rs. 1000.
