With this new production facility located in Hungary, Audi starts new era of series production of electric motors for Audi e-tron front and rear powertrain. The electric motors are produced on floor space of 8500 square meters in modular assembly concept.

Audi has invested a double-digit million euro sum to set up new facility for electric powertrain. For now 100 people are involved in production of electric propulsion for Audi e-tron.

Audi's aim to take on a pioneering role in the production of electric motors is closer to reality, but in terms of complete electric vehicles german company has several lessons to learn in order to catch up with Tesla.

Current production capacity of Audi e-tron electric motors is for approximately 400 electric motors each day. Audi e-tron has one separate electric motor for the front axle and another mechanically independent powertrain for the rear axle.

Robots are able to prepare the copper windings for stator of the electric motor, but final wiring set up is made by human. The production process with modular concept makes it possible to fit the production flow to the speed of human work, not the other way round. Driverless (electric) vegicles controlled by central computer transport the parts to the workstations, named "islands".

In parallel to production process, Audi Hungaria factory installed test facilities for electric motor development department for testing under continuous load.
