Chhello Show review by Sucharita Tyagi - Chhello Show tends to get caught up in its own endeavor to be an homage to filmmaking and the great storytellers of the medium. While we stay with Samay and his adorable little friends, trying to make their own movie cameras and movies, the movie’s bleeding heart is visible, a pain palpable. from the slow realization that for Samay to have the means to make more of his life, he’ll have to become that uprooted generation forced to leave their home in search of greener pastures, to his quickly quashed romanticism of cinema as old movie projector is melted in a blinding furnace and turned to spoons. An Amitabh-loving movie projectionist becomes a coolie to make ends meet, the film questions the fallacy of celebrity worship. Pan Nalin exposes a raw throbbing nerve, you can feel the pulsation, the helplessness of Samay turning into resolve born out of passion.

Chhello Show (transl. Last Film Show) is a 2021 Gujarati coming-of-age drama film directed by Pan Nalin. It stars Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval, and Paresh Mehta. The film premiered at the 20th Tribeca Film Festival on 10 June 2021. It has a theatrical release on 14 October 2022. This film was selected as the Indian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards. When the magic of movies conquers nine-year-old Samay's heart, he moves heaven and Earth in pursuit of his 35mm dreams. However, he is unaware of the heartbreaking times that await him.
