Professional poker champion Chris Ferguson has the nickname, Jesus, because of his dark beard and very long hair. You will often see him wearing sunglasses and/or a cowboy hat. He is also known for throwing cards in such a way as to cut fruits and vegetables no joke!

Chris Ferguson was born 11 April, 1963 in Los Angeles, California. Chris seems to have come by his analytical mind quite naturally with his father being a professor of game theory at UCLA and his mother holding a PhD in mathematics. Chris himself couldnt seem to get enough of UCLA as he spent 18 years there. He decided to earn a PhD in Computer Science with a specialty in Artificial Intelligence and he was also a research assistant at UCLA.

Poker interested Chris even as a young child. In fourth grade, after losing his last thirty-five cents to a heart flush beating his trip queens, Chris Ferguson became determined to never become broke again. He kept his resolve by earning $2 an hour at weekend poker games in his high school years. Chris played poker for money, but he also played for no money at times because he loved the game so much. Chris played no stakes poker online on a text-based early chat room called the Internet Relay Chat (IRC).

In 1994, Chris Ferguson began playing in small L.A. area poker tournaments. He also traveled regularly to casinos in Las Vegas and lost only twice in 22 visits. His professional poker playing career started after he won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event in 2000. He edged out C.J. Cloutier to take the 1.5 million dollar grand prize. Before his big 2000 win, Chris had won $151,000 in the 7-Card Stud event.

In 2006, Chris earned second place at the National Heads-Up Poker Championships after reaching second place there in 2005. His 2005 loss was to Phil Hellmuth, while his 2006 defeat was to Ted Forrest. Chris Ferguson set a record in professional poker by finishing in the money 42 times. He has made at least 4 million dollars just in WSOP events and is said to have earned more than 5.9 million dollars in career earnings by 2007.

Chris implemented a team to create the software for FullTiltPoker.com. Full Tilt is one of pokers top websites and Chris plays poker there to help others improve their game. Another of his interests is dance and he taught both ballroom and swing before becoming a part of the professional poker circuit. Chris Ferguson is married and lives in Pacific Palisades, California.
