This had been a fishing week with some catching, but definitely not what Team Jo-Jo would call a catching clinic. The Silverwonders had shown up just enough to keep hope alive, but words on the water was clear — the trout were MIA in MRGO. Reports were thin, confidence was thinner, and our original plan to work in that area started looking like a gamble instead of a game plan.
We already had Thursday and Friday locked in with Big Rudy on the books, so cancelling wasn’t an option — adjusting was.
Today (Thursday 2-12-16), I was paired up with Team Jo-Jo’s own Big Ron — better known in the fleet as Indian Ron. A steady hand, patient fisherman, and a believer in presentation over panic. With MRGO looking like a ghost town, we made the executive decision to pivot north and set our sights on the legendary Lake Pontchartrain trestles.
If you’re going to change plans, you might as well lean into something proven.
Our weapon of choice: Team Jo-Jo’s Lake P Troll technique and presentation. This isn’t random dragging — it’s controlled, disciplined, and intentional. Long lines out. Baits dialed in. Speed managed just right. The goal? Keep the offering in the strike zone along those concrete pilings were current sweeps bait and predators’ stage like ambushers.
The trestles always have a different feeling than MRGO. There’s structure. There’s rhythm. You watch the tide. You read the watercolor around the bridge legs. You look for nervous bait. It’s chess instead of checkers.
Big Ron was locked in — methodical, watching rod tips like a hawk, making subtle adjustments to depth and speed. No rushing. No overreacting. Just letting the Lake P Troll presentation do its work.
Some days you go looking for fish.
Some days you go looking for answers.
Thursday felt like both.
Even when the week starts with trout playing hide-and-seek, Team Jo-Jo doesn’t sit still. We adjust, we adapt, and we keep lines in the water.
Friday with Big Rudy was still on deck… and the hunt continued. 🎣

SIGNS:
• (2) Bunny rabbits crossed our path going down Rat’s Nest Road, very good sign this be
• (1) Little Rat crossed my path, not sure if good or bad sign, his little legs were doing 100 mph, but he looked like slow motion as he ran in front of the FORD transporter
• The Pointe back open to launch
• (1) Pull on Yamaha Nightmare Machine to start her
• Big Rudy meets us at launch, he fixed my GPS, hopefully it will work for us
OUR REWARDS:
• Lived too fish another day.
• (24) NMR Silverwonders
• (3) BIG girls missed at boat
• (6) Flounders

• (2) existing lines with sinkers & hooks
• (3) Tangled lines
• (11) Hang ups
Lost 5 whole Lake P Troll rig.
Lost (2) trailers rig
Tide falling tends to hang up more.
• Excellent peanut butter & pineapple jelly sandwich, many thanks to Petiet Gloria for making it for me, it was much needed today.
• Lessons learned:
Silverwonders back along trestles
Loons back in Lake P, hey all over the place
Lots of bait in water
Water clarity a 7 plus on a scale of 1-7
Team Jo-Jo’s Lake P Troll rig / technique / presentation working at its best.
1did not see many caught tight linings, but they had some trollers out that were having some good success.
Glad I had my buck knife on board, and it was sharp, rope was not matched for it as it wrapped around prop.
• Best fishing trip of my life… until the next one.
Good Fishing,
Team Jo-Jo & Oneofthepack
