The BFI Film Academy Short Course is a free professional filmmaking course for 16-19 year-olds who want to Break Into Film (up to 25 with ECHP).

Considered the Gold standard, The BFI Short Courses run from October to January on evenings, weekends & October half-term.

There are 80 free places across the West Midlands. It’s funded by the BFI, UK Government and National Lottery, although spaces are limited.

Rural Media is the lead delivery partner for the West Midlands. We are proud to be working with MediaActive to deliver FOUR Short Courses across the Region.

On the Short Course you’ll take on a professional film role, learn about film production & the film industry, create high quality short films, experience a real professional film production. The program includes workshops, masterclasses, and hands-on experience with industry experts in storytelling, scriptwriting, producing, directing, editing, & more.
