My 8 years old Audioengine A5+ has an issue with the built in amp that caused the right speaker to be intermittent. After temporarily rigging the speakers to an old spare amp, I found it to sound even better. this video shows how I converted the speakers from active to passive so I can use it with an external amplifier. By the way, I have a subwoofer to go with these speakers and they sound amazing!
