Sustainable fishing practices, including octopus population tracking, ensure responsible management. The Trigger Trap has boosted catch rates by up to 200%, but not all octopuses go to market—smaller ones are recorded and released, contributing to vital marine research.
Recent findings suggest that the Western Australian O. Tetricus population could be 10 times larger than previously estimated, highlighting the importance of ongoing sustainability efforts.
