Byzantine Saints: Martyr Sophia and Her Three Daughters at Rome (17 September)

Описание: On September 17, the Church commemorates Saint Sophia and her three daughters—Faith (12), Hope (10), and Love (9)—holy martyrs who confessed Christ openly in Rome under Emperor Hadrian. Betrayed by the official Antiochus, they were brought before the emperor and, refusing to sacrifice to Artemis, suffered brutal tortures. Preserved by God through the trials, the sisters remained steadfast and were ultimately beheaded. Their mother, St. Sophia, strengthened them to the end and fell asleep in the Lord at their graves—receiving a martyr’s crown in her heart.

This short video retells their witness and invites us to live the three Christian virtues in our own day: faith that confesses, hope that endures, and love that sacrifices.
