1/18 CMC diecast Mercedes Benz Uhlenhaut Coupe 1955

Описание: Mercedes Benz 300 SLR racers had already proven their capabilities during the 1955 season. For the 1956 season, 2 of the racers were prepared with a closed shell roof to make them fit for endurance races. These coupes were the fastest cars, capable of doing 290 kmph way back in 1955. Of the two, one was with blue interior and another wore red inside.

However the 2 coupes never got a chance to take part in any race since events made Mercedes Benz to pull out from participating in motorsports. Mr Uhlenhaut who had been the racing chief back then (and was also the engineer and designer of the two coupes) became the new head of test department. At his request, one of the coupes became his company car and got registered as a street legal car after slight modification. The coupes started getting named as the Uhlenhaut Coupe. Remarkable as they are, the coupes exist, and are maintained by the Mercedes Benz museum today.
