JustAnswer Customer: Water flow from GE Profile refrigerator is very slow, even with new filter
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: Hi there and thank you for choosing this service.
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: could you post the model number?
JustAnswer Customer: PCF23NGWA - SERIAL# * 419689
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: Hi there and thank you for choosing this service.
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: so even with a new water filter you still have the same issue which i suspect that your solenoid on your (water valve) is weak, you need to replace the water valve assembly to take care of your problem.
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: are you wanting to work on it yourself?
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: if so i will provide you with the part number.
JustAnswer Customer: I'm willing to attempt to repair it.
JustAnswer Customer: Is that the part at the top of the back of the frig where the water line enters?
JustAnswer Customer: What is the part number and where do you suggest I get one?
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: If you go around the back, the part is located at the buttom just behind the access panel.
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: you can get it at www.repairclinic.com .
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: here is a diagram that will show you the location.
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: thank you and have a great weekend.
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: Manufacturer Number WR57X10070
JustAnswer Customer: I see the diagram you sent, but which part is the solenoid?
JustAnswer Customer: And .
JustAnswer Customer: we have been having a buzzing noise .
JustAnswer Customer: sounds like a fan is tapping against something .
JustAnswer Customer: which increases in speed and finally becomes quiet.
JustAnswer Customer: Would I most liely find that behind the same rear-bottom panel?
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: Your going to replace the entire water valve assembly which is part number 800 on the diagram.
JustAnswer Customer: I will work on this tomorrow and may have more questions
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: No problem.
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: just reply to me at anytime.
JustAnswer Customer: The part arrived and I have it installed.
JustAnswer Customer: No leaks.
JustAnswer Customer: However the water flow remains as slow as before .
JustAnswer Customer: 22 seconds for 1 cup.
JustAnswer Customer: Again, there is plenty of pressure at the source.
JustAnswer Customer: I checked the little curved tube where the water comes out.
JustAnswer Customer: It seems to be okay .
JustAnswer Customer: however there was 3/4 of small diameter washer hanging out that tube.
JustAnswer Customer: I can't see any more of it.
JustAnswer Customer: I that valve is the problem, how do I get to it?
JustAnswer Customer: AND .
JustAnswer Customer: the slotted plastic shield above the two lights at the back of the freezer .
JustAnswer Customer: under the ice bin .
JustAnswer Customer: has a fan that is buzzing against that shield.
JustAnswer Customer: If i place a little pressure on the shield, it is obvious that the fan blade is hitting it.
JustAnswer Customer: If I press up under the shield, I can get enough learance to stop the buzzing, but I can't keep it quiet after I release that upward pressure.
JustAnswer Customer: Now what?
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: Hi there, that sounds like the fan blade is stripped.
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: could you remove that cover?
JustAnswer Customer: I can't see how the cover can be removed.
JustAnswer Customer: Any other ideas regarding correcting the slow water flow?
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: Disconnect the water line going into the door at the bottom the press the lever, tell me if the water pressure is strong?
JustAnswer Customer: It looks like the milky colored 1/4" tube is continuous .
JustAnswer Customer: I don't see a connection to disconnect?
JustAnswer Customer: I just got a response note from you .
JustAnswer Customer: but no response to my reply was included?
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: If you remove the kick plate at the bottom you will be able to see the connectors right underneath the hinge.
JustAnswer Customer: Thanks.
JustAnswer Customer: I will check on that when I get home tonight.
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: You are welcome.
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: feel free to reply to me at any time.
JustAnswer Customer: I finally found the time to disconnect the 1/4" tube at the hing of the freezer.
JustAnswer Customer: There is the same low water pressure at that point when I press the fill lever.
JustAnswer Customer: Now what?
gst85: Home Appliance Technician: Check the reservoir to see if it is frozen?
JustAnswer Customer: Reservoir?
JustAnswer Customer: Where is that and how would I check it?
JustAnswer Customer: I doubt that is the problem as the slow flow is the same all the time.
