This is a magical plant used by our Ancestors for rituals and spiritual healing for protection. It was intended to symbolize the perfect attachment to the divine, which brings back memories watching my Dad (RIP) used it for washing his hands upon returning from funerals in Ghana. In Suriname and among other indigenous traditional cultures of healing and divination, it’s used together with other herbs for spiritual bath of cleanliness before entering the new year where there would be playing of the African drum leading most people into transcendentalism in communication with our Ancestors.
