Ohio Processes its Early and Mail-in Ballots Ahead of Election | US Presidential Election | News9

Описание: Ahead of Election Day on Tuesday (November 5), poll workers in Ohio are getting mailed-in and early voting ballots prepared by hand and counted by machine.

Antone White, the director of Franklin County Board of Elections, said, "In Ohio by law we're allowed to extract our ballots and we can pre-process our ballots and prepare them for tabulation on election night so when the election is over at 7.31pm, the first results you see in Ohio are all the absentee mailed ballots and early in-person voters that have voted before election day."

The ballots are all scanned by machine but the details of votes are not available until Election Night.

Security is tight. "The workers that are in this room are Democrats and Republicans. We do things in a bipartisan manner. We have cameras in this room and this room is secured under a DnR lock, so what that means is it takes a Democrat and a Republican to enter the room in order to access the ballots and everything in this room," White said.

He added, "I think we processed about 136,000 mail ballots for this election. So far in our early voting center, we've voted well over 100,000 Franklin County voters so it's been heavy. The turnout's been heavy so far for early voting."
