One night at Rafters Acoustic Music Club in Auckland we got up to do a song in the first half and I'd been thinking about Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, who'd recently passed away. Sloop John B is the only BB song I know all the words to, and as it turns out it's actually an old folk song which Brian et al had adapted. You. can hear from the audience singing along that the folkies approved. :)
