The Peppermint Ruffle Top Hacked 3 Ways - using the Peppermint Magazine free pattern

Описание: I wasn't convinced that these hacks were going to work but I am SO PLEASED with how they have turned out!

THE COLOUR BLOCK TOP
This top was made during the Mystery Bag video last month (    • Mystery Fabric Bag Makes - I Bought A Myst...   ) and is the classic ruffle sleeve pattern. I think I went a size too big so sized down for the next top but overall I like the look and the shape. The darts are too short for my liking so in the second top I made them MUUUUUUCH longer. The inner lining could easily have been replaced by just a neck facing if you have opaque fabric and it would have made the whole thing even easier to sew up.

THE LONG RUFFLE TOP
Oh. My. Days. I am making 100 more of these! The extra length on the ruffle just makes it much more my style and looks great too. I only extended the length of the ruffle rather than adding width too and that worked really well. As previously mentioned I sized down for this and made the darts much longer so the shape of the top looks different to the first. It's also a little shorter which suits well (although I was worried about the length so biased the hem rather than turned it up).

THE RUFFLE DRESS
In LOVE! Everything about this is gorgeous! I had some pink scuba in my stash so decided to use that and I'm glad I did. It has enough weight to drape but enough structure to hold the ruffle and gathering nicely. I simply used the "shorten/lengthen" line on the pattern to decide where to attach my skirt, measured the width of the made top and doubled it. Then I gathered the skirt to fit the top and attached. It really is a fabric sponge (I used over 2 metres in total) but definitely worth it.

Overall, for a free pattern I have made 3 different types of garment that, in my humble opinion, look great!
