This cannon fires a single shot & sound of cannon alert the people about Ramadan timing to end their fast of the day. Sound of the cannon reaches around 10km. The coordination of Dubai police is such a great that all the cannons of Dubai fires at the same time. Police Also fires 2 rounds to declare start of Ramadan & Eid.

There are approx 5 fixed cannon at different locations in Dubai in 2022. You can visit any one of them during Ramdan to witness the ceremony.

Today this traditional n historical cannon fire ceremony is being done at our community by the collaboration of Dubai police & was witnessed by many residents with their kids. This is a unique n traditional way of Dubai police to keep the old age tradition alive & pass it to new generations.

Olden days there were no loud speakers so loud sounds were used to announce the iftar timings like gun. But as usual, Dubai always does something different ie & here Cannon fire is used
everyday to signal iftar time. This year Dubai Police will have mobile cannons positioned at 11 areas sites in the emirate, alternating between locations.

We had this mobile cannon In our community for 2 days. It was such a proud & great moment to witness this Tradition live In front of our eyes .
