In Malawi, many low-income and short-term contract workers struggle to access affordable formal credit, often falling prey to costly informal lenders.
At the inaugural COMESA #WomenInFinTech Hackathon for Malawi and Zambia, Team Credit Line introduced a mobile solution designed to bridge this gap giving users instant access to credit via a mobile app or USSD.
Through partnerships with employers and lenders, Credit Line helps unbanked and underserved communities access formal credit from the comfort of their homes. Users can log in, browse offers, calculate loan eligibility, apply, and receive funds instantly upon approval.
The team also highlighted the transformative potential of integrating Mojaloop Open Source Software, which enables seamless, low-cost payments to various networks a breakthrough for inclusive finance.
This inspiring journey showcases the power of FinTech to unlock opportunities for women cross-border traders and low-income workers across Africa.
