It's essential to minimize the amount of waste and lusting of camera gear so we can focus our energy and money towards more meaningful endeavors such as going on trips to shoot new locations or even creating a photo studio. It's a societal fault because we perpetuate these ideas of needing more gear to be "better" at photography but in reality you don't need gear in order to create stellar photos.
