On the 30th of September 2025, Nigel Latta passed away. He was only 58.
The week before, he went to see his oncologist and was given the heartbreaking news his body couldn’t take any more treatment.
He arrived at the meeting optimistic but pivoted to acceptance immediately.
That sums up Nigel Latta- he died the way he lived: brave, courageous, fearless, resilient, considerate.
Nigel was a guest on the podcast a year ago, this was 4 months after he announced on Facebook he had stomach cancer.
This podcast is re-release of that conversation with Nigel Latta.
We talk about:
The moment he was told he had 6–12 months to live.
How his resilience philosophy was being tested in real time.
The outpouring of love after he went public with his diagnosis.
Love, marriage, and finding his person in Natalie.
Surviving chemo, confronting death, and what really matters.
And so much more!
To Nigel’s wife Natalie, his children and his friends- I am so sorry for your loss.
For everyone else, I hope Nigel’s life of work: his books, TV series, documentaries and even podcasts like this remain as a useful resource- tools for how we can all live better and happier lives.
New Zealand was a much better place with Nigel Latta in it, I hope part of his legacy will be that we all learn from Nige and use his knowledge to improve our own lives.
