Doc has lost the love of his life, because he failed to save her in time.
He became a wanderer with no home, no friends and is lonely. He lost the one thing he knew because he failed to save her.
He spends the rest of his days trying to save those he comes across.
He enters the Great Valley, Grandpa longneck is attacked by sharpteeth. Doc steps in, but once again fails and Littlefoot runs him off, telling him that he's no hero and that he should go.
Doc leaves and Littlefoot regrets it. He goes out to find the old dinosaur to tell him he's sorry. More trouble strikes and Doc manages to save him. Turns out Grandpa longneck was okay. He tells Doc that he never had a chance to thank him for saving him from sharpteeth and everything is okay.
