World Eagerly Awaits President Xi’s Keynote Speech at World Economic Forum: Schwab

Описание: The whole world is looking forward to a positive message from China at the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting, said Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the WEF on Monday.

Klaus Schwab made the remarks in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) just one day ahead of the 47th WEF annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

Chinese president Xi Jinping will deliver a keynote speech on the opening day -- the first time for a Chinese head of state to address the forum.

"I think the whole world is expecting a message, a positive message, a message that in this new world, which is shaping up, China will take on its responsibilities; China will help to keep an open but fair world," said Schwab.

Schwab also said that China as a mega power is expected to outline its leadership role in current global affairs.

"China plays a key role, because we are moving from a unipolar to a multi polar world. And of course, China in this multi polar world is one of the mega powers, one of the two mega powers; so we are looking very much forward to the speech of President Xi, to hear how he defines responsive and responsible leadership of China in this new global context," Schwab said.

The meeting will be held from Jan. 17 to 20.
