This video will help you to know the how much protein you can eat with kidney disease. As you all know, 50% part of your treatment is diet. High protein intake can make your kidney failure worse. Protein is an essential element of every cell in the body. Excessive intake of protein like pulses, chicken mutton, fish causes excessive accumulation of acid in the body because when we consume such kind of animal protein, body has to produce large amount of acid which gets accumulated in the body because your kidney is under performing. Due to under performance of kidney, acid which is used to be excreted by the kidney, now starts getting accumulated in the body. This accumulation of acid is known as acidosis in this condition, pH of the body decreases and this acid causes damage to the kidney, so it is advised to all kidney patients to completely avoid any kind of protein.
RECOMMENDED PROTEIN INTAKE WITH NO DIALYSIS:
A healthy active person needs to stop eating their usual amounts of protein and restrict their intake. This will help kidney patient to restore kidney function and reduce cretinine and urea levels. Our doctors will recommend the right amount of protein for your body. For kidney disease patients with no dialysis, a protein-free diet is recommended. If you have body weight of 30-40 kg, then we may recommend protein intake. Amount of protein depends on factors such as cretinine level, protein loss and body weight.
RECOMMENDED PROTEIN INTAKE WITH PRE DIALYSIS:
Kidney patients with pre-dialysis may be underweight and protein intake is recommended as per body weight and stage of kidney disease. If you have a body weight of 50 kg, then you may require 50 g of protein every day. Protein requirement for an average adult is 1 gram for every 1 kg of body weight.
RECOMMENDED PROTEIN INTAKE WITH DIALYSIS:
The current recommendation for dialysis patient who weights 50 Kg is 50 grams of protein per day. The right amount of protein you need depends on your body weight, your creatinine levels and your kidney problem.
