Kumi Lach unfolds with a quiet sense of motion—music that seems to rise from a familiar melodic line and gradually find its own direction. The ensemble moves with unhurried clarity: piano, cello, guitar, and percussion shaping the contours while the bass holds the center with understated warmth. There’s a conversational flow here, the kind that forms only after years of shared listening.
Co-composer and arranger Gilad Ronen offers a framework that gives the melody space to breathe while guiding the ensemble toward subtle shifts in texture. The addition of caxixi midway through the piece adds a gentle lift, opening room for the piccolo bass to step forward without breaking the atmosphere.
Recorded in Jerusalem, the track keeps its focus on the natural sound of the players—simple, clear, and closely attuned. Richard King’s mix preserves this sense of closeness, allowing each detail to settle into place
