The brutal death of John the Baptizer shocked everyone--including Jesus. In this ongoing narrative of the Jesus Story I consider how Jesus withdrew with his closest followers and came to identify with the idea of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 42-53 as applied to both him and his followers, quite similarly to what we find in the Dead Sea Scrolls regarding the Teacher of Righteousness.
