This video is about the brand new automated light train in Montreal. The REM (Réseau Express Métropolitain) will eventually connect Montreal Island and its suburbs. In this video, we are riding the first section of the light train system, which runs from Brossard station on the South shore to Montreal's Gare Centrale station. The REM's official opening date is July 31st, 2023, but they had an open house weekend on Saturday, July 29 and 30th, 2023. The rides were free all day. The ride from the first station (Brossard) to downtown was 15 minutes total.
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and I have no doubt that once the whole system will be in place and connects the whole city to its suburbs that it will be very efficient. It will definitely be a great way to commute from within the city and around Montreal Island.
