Snowboarding Down a Volcano | South Sister Summit

This is a throwback to a video I made years ago in 2021, shortly after I moved to Central Oregon. At the time, it was my first snow-covered summit of South Sister (10,363 ft). I was supposed to climb Mt. Hood with friends that day, but plans changed, so I pivoted and went up South Sister instead.

The hike up was hot AF, the snow was wet and sloppy, and the summit was rather windy. I carried a heavy pack loaded with camera gear, overnight camping stuff, and extra supplies because I was planning to take an alternate route down and spend the night—basically, way more than actually necessary. But hey… I did it anyway. Hiking, snowboarding, singing, talking to myself and basically just documenting the adventure and having a little fun along the way.

This video isn’t serious—it’s silly, goofball commentary, and a little storytelling. I put some edit work into it to make it a fun story rather than a straight vlog.

The mountains, though, are serious. I’ve since summited South Sister many times and even helped rescue people (as part of my search and rescue work) who would have died on this mountain. There’s real risk here—falling, crevasses, avalanches, and plenty of other hazards. Yeah, I went solo back then, which definitely isn’t something I’d recommend. This video is definitely not a guide, suggestion, or any form of advice—it’s me being my goofball self. You shouldn’t take any advice or approach from a random person on YouTube. Enjoy the adventure and views, laugh at the chaos, but always respect the mountain.
